A cormorant on a branch in the water of the Leidsche Rijn in Utrecht. The sun broke through the clouds and cast a bright and shrill light on the water and turned the cormorant into a silhouette. The sunlight really fell right behind the bird. The cormorant just stayed put, even when I really started making an effort to take a picture. He did keep an eye on me all the time. An animal is not stupid. A cormorant is known to spread its wings to dry them.
I put the photo in black and white to enhance the contrast more.
