Crane in Style – hand-drawn with acrylic markers on canvas

Painting 1 of a set of 3

With the Ladybirds series, I want to play with the idea of being allowed to be yourself. Not thinking too much about what’s expected, what’s normal or how you’re actually supposed to present yourself. Just wear whatever you fancy, let your hair down when you feel like it and, above all, don’t be afraid to be a bit over-the-top.

For this series, I’ve chosen various birds as my starting point.

With this crane, I began with the plumage and the striking crest. From there, the character gradually took shape: the large glasses, the jewellery, the red details and, ultimately, the posture. I didn’t just want to make the bird beautiful, but above all to give it a certain aura.

I created the painting using acrylic markers on canvas. The bold black lines and bright colours suit the distinctive style I had in mind for this series.

For me, the Ladybirds are ultimately all about freedom. You don’t have to pigeonhole yourself. You’re allowed to change, let your hair down, be calm, be over-the-top, or simply be exactly who you want to be at that moment.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
