The white dandelion fluff against a dark background works well in black and white.
The Dandelion, Taraxacum officinale F.H.Wigg., is a very common species in the Composite family. The most common Dandelions are included in the section Ruderalia.
The Dandelion, often the name is still written as Dandelion, blooms almost year round. Flowering usually begins in early spring. This can be as early as January if it is a mild winter. Optimally, the Dandelion blooms in the first half of April and can then turn meadows orange-yellow. Flowering continues through May and sporadically even into December. Fruit formation and flowering are often seen at the same time: the orange-yellow field then has a white blurred appearance due to the fluffy balls of the Dandelion.
The leaves of the Dandelion form a rosette and the unbranched stem is leafless. The shape of the leaves is usually lineal lanceolate, often having feathery to feathery incisions or teeth. The surface of the leaves is glabrous or slightly woolly haired.
