A handful of deep red wildflowers catches the last sun against a dark background. The stems draw thin lines in the warm backlight. Each bloom head takes on a shimmering edge as if burning from within.
Such moments often happen at the end of an ordinary day in the Hageland: suddenly the sun shoots through a gap in the clouds for a moment and the field becomes a soft stage.
I then work quickly and intuitively, while experiencing great calm and slowing down inside. With a large opening to turn the background into velvet and set the flowers as protagonists, I crouch among half-wet grass, looking for the most beautiful flowers and strongest compositions.
For me, this image is about lust for life in a small format. Colours that look at you without shouting.
In the home, it provides warmth and energy, ideal for making a reading corner or dining area glow without being crowded.
