Sometimes the sky over the Hageland seems to be on fire.
On this evening, sunset coloured the sky fiery orange and red, while the silhouettes of farm buildings, silo's and trees stood out sharply against the light.
I stayed for a moment to feel how day and night meet: the noise of the farmyard dying away, the landscape lighting up one last time.
What gets me in such moments is the combination of simplicity and drama. The shapes are recognisable - roofs, trunks, branches - but the colour contrast turns them into an almost graphic image.
For me, this work is a reminder that the Hageland can be not only gentle, but also outspoken and powerful.
In an interior, this picture brings warmth and a touch of
theatre, without being garish.
The interplay of lines in the silhouettes keeps it balanced, while the evening glow colours the space with a sense of completion and anticipation
at the same time.
