Tranquil, the old drowning house stands at the edge of the beach on Terschelling. Surrounded by vast dunes and soft pastel light, this place exudes an almost timeless tranquillity.
The cottage, which once functioned as a refuge for shipwrecked sailors, recalls the ferocious power of the sea and the interconnectedness of man and nature on the Wadden Islands. The wooden poles on which it stands seem rooted in the sand, like sentinels that have braved storms for decades. The wind plays through the marram grass, gulls draw their lines through the air. Everything about this place invites stillness and reflection. Here you feel how silence and simplicity make room for contemplation.
