Six perky lynxes look at you. They form a pattern, along with two snowflakes, which form the background. The colours are soft; two pastel ice crystals and the beige fur of the Eurasian lynx.

When I was a little girl, I spent some time in Iran. While I was there in the mountains, I saw a lynx prowling along a cliff, which was located above a café's terrace. The café was closed during the winter, but the abandoned chairs and tables were still there. At first, the others did not see the feline and we had a moment alone, looking at each other. Then I said to my mother, "Look, a big cat!"

I remember exactly how he snuck past, slow and controlled with short tail, thick legs, grey winter coat and tufts on the ears. Most beautiful was the moment when he was still invisible to the others and we saw each other.

Personally, I think they are beautiful animals; compact and fluffy. Now that the temperatures are lower, animals that have adapted well to winter come to mind. A lynx's hind legs are longer than its front ones, so it can jump into a snow bed to grab prey. The feet are wide and act as snowshoes, so the lynx does not sink into the snow as it walks.

I drew the lynx with pen on paper. I then coloured these in photoshop. I also made several studies of ice crystals and chose two from these. Finally, I post-processed and built up the image in layers to multiply and mirror it.

I think the work will appeal to someone who loves felines or animals in general. The symmetry will give a calm feeling to your interior. If you love lynxes, you'll like this work for sure!
