Photographing symmetrical buildings like Festung Ehrenbreitstein in black and white emphasises the shapes, lines and structures by removing the distraction of colour. This accentuates the contrast and textures of the architecture, and gives the photos a timeless quality that enhances the historic atmosphere of the fortress. Black-and-white images offer photographers artistic means of expression with light and composition, creating powerful and emotional photographs that capture the building's imposing presence and architectural perfection.
