Fragmentismo: MAN AT WORK: Bulldozer Operator

by Koeien van Klaas

MAN AT WORK

KlaasR | Fragmentamism Man at Work is a powerful tribute to the person behind the hard labour. This work centres on a bulldozer operator: a figure who, with concentration, experience and control, operates an imposing machine. This elevates the everyday moment of labour to a monumental image of human dedication, technology and responsibility.

The composition is built up using a distinct palette of bright red, dark blue and warm cream. These powerful colour contrasts give the work a direct, almost propagandistic feel. At the same time, the sharp contours and fragmented planes ensure that the bulldozer and the driver not only remain recognisable, but also merge into a single powerful visual statement.

Within Fragmentamism, the artistic style developed by KlaasR, reality is dissected and reconstructed. Through lines, breaks and rhythmic fragments, a tension arises between figuration and abstraction. The work alludes to labour, industry and the visual language of Pop Art and poster art.

The typography at the bottom reinforces this monumental character and emphasises the dignity of working life. ‘Man at Work’ depicts not only an operator on a bulldozer, but above all the human power behind the machines that shape the landscape. An ode to mastery, physical labour and the indispensable role of the working person.
