About "Hope and despair"

About the artwork

Two people face each other. They look alike, like reflections in a mirror. In their hands, a large yellow balloon rises up, fragile and luminous, a symbol of their dreams, of their desire to escape, of the quest for the infinite that inhabits every human being. Yet their ankles are bound by chains, heavy and real, a constant reminder of what gets in the way: the obligations, fears and expectations that weigh down our lives.

This painting, "Hope and Despair", tells the story of this universal duality. On the one hand, the drive towards light, towards freedom, towards what we want to become. On the other, the painful anchorage in a constraining reality. Between aspiration and constraint, between heaven and earth, each of us traces our path, torn but alive. For it is perhaps in this very tension, between hope and despair, that true humanity is born.

A recurring theme in my work is the balance within us between the difficult and the easy, between our own fragility and our own strength. This painting is not a sad statement, but rather a reminder that we must become strong and break the chains that prevent us from fulfilling our potential.
