A drawing of a male house sparrow in India ink with crown pen coloured with transparent watercolour.
The little bird sits on an angled branch and you can see him on his back, allowing you to see the drawing of his back feathers beautifully. He looks over so he is looking at you with one eye.
The background is a light blue in with a kind of cloud texture. The light blue makes the sparrow's colours stand out even more. The angled branch gives the image a dynamic feel.
Sparrows are birds that can be found in my garden every day because I feed them. Every morning they are already waiting. So I see whole families of sparrows with their young passing by in spring. At the feed silo, things are not always very friendly.
House sparrows are found in large parts of the world and often live near people, so they can also be found very regularly in my garden.
