While on holiday in Italy, I visited Lago di Tenno, a hidden gem in the Trentino-Alto Adige region. The lake, located at an altitude of 570 metres, is surrounded by high mountains and dense forests. What immediately struck me was the beautiful turquoise colour of the water, which seemed almost unnatural. This is caused by mineral-rich meltwater from the mountains and the calcareous soil, which reflects the light in a unique way. The lake is not large, which was perfect for me: I could walk around it in an hour and photograph it from every angle.
I found the small island in the middle of the lake magical. When the water level is low, you can almost walk to it, and from certain angles it looks like the island is in a much larger lake. Walking around the lake constantly offered new views: the clarity of the water, the contrast with the green trees and the peaceful surroundings gave me a sense of pure serenity.
Lago di Tenno is close to the medieval village of Canale di Tenno, one of the most beautiful villages I have ever seen. The combination of this historical charm and the natural beauty of the lake made it one of the most special places for me during my trip. It is a place where you can get lost in the landscape for hours and lose yourself in photography.
