The Imperial Palace of Goslar is not only a sight and monumental cultural treasure, but also part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site title awarded in 1992 to the Rammelsberg Mine, the Old Town of Goslar and the Upper Harz Water Management. Moreover, the Kaisersaal is the venue for major cultural events. Built between 1040 and 1050 under Emperor Heinrich III. (1016/17-1056), the Goslar Palatinate was the most frequently visited seat of government of kings and emperors in the north of the Old Kingdom in the High Middle Ages.
The towers of the Goslar market church of St. Cosmas and Damian can be seen in the background.
