What a picture is this little castle near Germany's Moselle Valley. It is in a valley surrounded by mountains, and you go down along the road with hairpin bends. On this road, in my imagination, I could see knights and horses in previous centuries like this, which is why I had to take this picture. The photo is a combination of natural beauty and history, which appeals to me immensely.
Burg Eltz is known for its romantic and enchanting appearance, which is enhanced by several features. First, the castle has a fairytale-like architecture with towers, battlements and half-timbering that seem to have been taken from a medieval story. This unique architectural style, which combines Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque elements, adds to the castle's charm and elegance.
In addition, Burg Eltz's location is particularly picturesque. The castle is located on a cliff above the Elzbach River, surrounded by lush forests in the Hunsrück region. This natural setting provides a serene and idyllic backdrop that gives the castle a secluded and magical atmosphere.
Burg Eltz's history, owned by the same family for more than 850 years, also adds to the romance. The fact that the castle has remained intact over the centuries and is still inhabited by the descendants of the original owners gives it a sense of continuity and tradition.
Finally, Burg Eltz is often depicted in literature, photography, paintings and films because of its fairy-tale and romantic appearance. These cultural references reinforce Burg Eltz's image as one of the most romantic castles in Germany.
I made this version in black and white, I really like the contrast between light and dark. Of course, the colour version is also available in my shop.
