Mills on the horizon on a winter morning
An alternative photo of the view Zaanse Schans and the Zaan. The drops on the railing sharply in the foreground the windmills as a shadow on the horizon. The morning sun climbs quickly in the sky. The river ripples past Zaandam and Zaandijk as it has done for centuries. This alternative photo of a familiar place.
With my work as a street photographer, I show the rough, unpolished sides of city life. With my photos, I try to capture the beauty of everyday moments. The viewer can then invent his or her own story to go with it. I also have a fondness for industrial environments, such as harbour sites and factory buildings, where traces of the industrial past are still present. In doing so, I try to photograph subtle details, using both digital and analogue cameras.
