A merman lies forward on the ground with his arms by his sides and his butt in the air. His eyes are closed and his tail fin lies flat on the ground. He doesn't feel like it today. Mr Aquarius says: Nope!
Everyone has a day once in a while when they are not up for it, mermen have that too. It's OK, Mr Aquarius, you can rest. As long as I get to draw you in the meantime.
This merman appears more often in my work and I like to have him assume all kinds of poses and do all kinds of things. He is therefore very limber.
Mr Aquarius is a hipster and has tattoos with images related to the sea. I always draw these faithfully in the right places on his skin. In this image, you can see the octopus and a piece of the giant manta ray on his back.
The technique I used is fineliner on paper. The tattoos are blue, while the rest of the image is black and white. The whole thing has been accurately touched up in Photoshop.
This is a great image for tough men or women who like tough men.

My work distinguishes itself by strong colours and clear shapes. I work with ecoline, ink and pencil, but I also like to cut and paste.
I get my inspiration from nature and like to daydream. Animals and people sometimes seem to melt together in these reveries.
