The North American T-6 Texan is also known as "The Pilot Maker". The first T-6 first flew in April 1935. Originally designed as a training aircraft for the United States Army Air Corps, the Texan was the main training platform for US pilots who went on to fly fighter aircraft such as the P-51 Mustang, F4U Corsair and P-40 Warhawk in World War II after their training.
Dutch air force pilots have also trained on the T-6 Texan in the past. The Royal Air Force owned 200 aircraft after World War II.
Outside the United States, this aircraft is better known as the Harvard.
