At the hamlet of Tsjerkebuorren (Kerkbuurt), located near the Frisian village of Oosterwierum, here on a partially excavated mound stands this characteristic tower from the 14th century.
The accompanying church section was demolished in 1905 but the tower remained.
Also at this location is the cemetery of Oosterwierum.
I had been here briefly in the morning at sunrise and saw that I had better come back at sunset.
To get a nice vivid foreground and frame, I sat down on the verge and waited until the sun had reached the spot I wanted. The fencing forms a nice frame around the tower.
