Otranto is one of the gems on Italy's east coast. This is partly due to its beautiful location, by the sea, with a colourful harbour and its own city beach, partly due to the almost fairy-tale atmosphere that resides in the streets of the old town. Because of that location, on the easternmost part of Puglia, Otranto has an eventful history. It was the first place where conquerors from overseas landed. The cathedral is also one of the highlights of a visit to the city. While strolling through the town, we came along the ramparts to this little "harbour" with its colourful fishing boats and enjoyed the lovely relaxed environment and atmosphere.
