The Drents-Friese Wold is a beautiful nature park. With very beautiful and varied forests and sand drifts, it is a pleasure to walk. This image made in early spring shows how special this area is. The light accentuates the ripples in the sand. It looks like it is straight out of the desert, but is from Friesland and Drenthe.
The trees appear to be close together, but are a long way apart; the use of a long lens (focal length 145 mm) compresses the image. Focus-stacking was used to obtain an overall sharp image.
Landscapes and townscapes are my favourite subjects. I search for beauty in the image; that can come from any of the compositional elements such as lines, shapes, rhythms, light/dark, colour combinations. For me a photograph is successful, when I can hang it on the wall.. Read more…
