Planted roofs are increasingly popular. And with good reason: they are good for water management, biodiversity and heat insulation, and they also look much nicer than traditional roofs with gravel or bitumen.
Sedum, also known by its Latin name sedum, is a plant often used on green roofs. There are lots of different varieties of succulents, with lots of different shades. The term "green roof" should therefore not be taken too literally.
This work is based on a photograph of an overgrown roof where the colour red predominated. By rotating twelve digital copies of that photo and overlaying them transparently, this hypnotic image was created. As a finishing touch, a spatial effect was added, giving the illusion of congealed blobs of paint.
Sedum Spiral is part of a sedum triptych. The other two works, Sedum Sextet and Sedum Star, are also for sale in this webshop. But they also do very well without each other.
