Sometimes during a walk, you come across a tree that you just don't pass by. This tree stood there, in the middle of the open plain, bare and unadorned. No leaves to distract, no birds to disturb the silence. Just branches, like lines in the sky. The rest of the landscape kept its distance. Brownish grasses, a distant forest edge - everything seemed to give way to this one silhouette.
It was late December. The sky was restless: menacingly dark and at the same time lighter, almost hopeful. In colour, you would have seen more hues. But in black and white, only the essence remains. The contrast between light and dark. The power of simplicity.

This photo is an ode to the power of the simple. To the beauty of a tree that doesn't need to hide anything. Everything is allowed to be there - even the silence.
An image that doesn't fill in everything. You look, and you feel: silence speaks here.
