This work shows a girl curled up on her side sleeping. She is wearing a striped dress and her hands are under her head. Her hair falls over her arm. She lies there peacefully.
The work was created in response to a drawing by another artist and is my version of a sleeping girl. It was a fun challenge to build up the pose in layers of paper. This technique gives the print an extra dimension as it seems to jump out of the canvas.
The feeling it evokes in me is one of peace, but also that of the heaviness of a sleeping body. It is solid and graphic, with no extra bells and whistles in the background. The girl herself is the focus.
The work is colorful and gives your interior the right 'pop of color' if you want something more vibrant.
My work distinguishes itself by strong colours and clear shapes. I work with ecoline, ink and pencil, but I also like to cut and paste.
I get my inspiration from nature and like to daydream. Animals and people sometimes seem to melt together in these reveries.
