During my trip to Iceland, I paid a also visit to the sulfur and hot springs of the Seltún geothermal field in the Krýsuvík geothermal area. The rotten egg smell could be smelled from afar. It had been snowing so there was a great contrast between cold of the snow and the warmth of the sulfur and hot springs. Not only was there contrast in the physical temperature but this contrast was also visible in the colors. The warm ochre yellow and orange and red of the sand and the white and gray of the snow and water. The three little buildings fit exactly into the color palette of the intriguing environment. It resulted in an image of a tranquil landscape in only three colors with their variations: white, gray and brown. Your gaze is drawn again and again via the thawed spots of
the sulfur wells and hot springs to the three little buildings in the distance.
