What do you see at work?
A fiery sunset colours the sky in deep shades of orange, red and purple. The sea reflects the last glow of the day, while the dark rocks and silhouettes of the mountains form an almost mysterious frame. The horizon glows after, as if the day is taking its last breath.
What was your inspiration for this work?
While travelling along the coast, I was struck by this moment when light and dark meet. It felt as if nature stood still for a moment, as if the sea and sky together formed a painting. Capturing that one second, just before night swallows up the day completely, was my goal.
What atmosphere are you trying to portray?
The work exudes tranquillity and mysticism. The warm colours bring warmth, while the dark silhouettes give a sense of depth and stillness. It is both powerful and serene.
Describe the emotion or message you want to convey with this work.
For me, this work is about letting go of the day and the beauty of impermanence. It reminds me that every end also carries a new beginning. It is an ode to silence and the magic of nature.
Did you use a particular technique?
Choosing the lighting carefully maintained the balance between the intense colours of the sky and the dark silhouettes. This gives the photo a dramatic yet natural effect, with the horizon literally glowing.
What makes this work special in an interior?
This work instantly gives a room a warm and atmospheric feel. It is ideal for those who love the peace and strength of nature. In a living room or bedroom, it invites relaxation, while in a workspace it can bring inspiration.
