In Iceland, there's not a real Wadden Sea like in the Netherlands and Germany . But part of the fjord near the town of Borgarnes does fall dry at low tide.
I sat on a bench contemplating whether this mini-Wadden was worth taking a picture of, but something was still missing. At that moment a man came walking up the muddy plain, heading for a small island. So that's what was missing: a mudflat hiker.
The photo looked good, but became even more beautiful when I edited it into a digital painting. I added a different sky; you have that freedom with digital painting. But it's a sky that fits: I had captured it a few days earlier above another fjord, a little further north.
