A photograph of a country track in rural France in late summer. It is a place that is very close to where I live and I pass it everyday when we walk the dogs. I notice how the atmosphere changes, depending on the light. Here, there is a mist creating an atmosphere as the trees disappear into the distance. The early morning light catches parts of the tree and onto the track below. There is a feeling of soft warmth, and leaves you wondering what lies ahead, and where the track takes you.
Despite the soft appearance, there is a lot of detail in the photograph. This is something that is part of my style. And trees are always included.
My work evokes a feeling of nostalgia. It creates a sense of time standing still and aims to take you away from modern life to a time where things were quieter, slower and more relaxed.
I am inspired by landscape painters of the 19th century, and particularly their use of light and composition.
