The title of this work comes (partly) from the vase. On the bottom it says 'Vase blue dream'. I found this vase at the Emmaus in Marey-sur-Tille, a municipality in the French departement Côte-d'Or. The play of light and shadow in the image, and the textures in the background, I staged for the photo. A matter of waiting for the right light from outside. What plays a role in this? A bit of sunshine, some clouds and the position of the sun. And of course the positioning of the vase with red tulips. I photographed this vase of red tulips in various stages of growth: from very fresh, to having bloomed to having finished flowering. The two tulips that seem to fade into the background, are from a photo taken in a later stage of bloom. I have put them there with photoshop. You can also see a slight 'doubling' in the two tulips at the front, in the middle. I also created this with tulips from another photo of this bunch, from a later stage of bloom. I think this artwork gives a nice combination of dark and light, of gray and colorful, of vague and bright.
