About ‘Via Vittorio Emanuele, 4.16 pm’ by Maarten Steunenberg

I took this photo from a balcony, looking down a street where the last rays of sunlight were just touching a single strip. A woman walked right into that strip — and her shadow became longer than she was. What moves me about this image is the role of the light. The street is already mostly dark; only that one strip of light remains. Anyone walking into it is briefly illuminated as if on a stage, without even realising it. For me, that is the essence of street photography: people who are completely unaware, in a composition that lasts only a few seconds. Seen from above, the street almost becomes a stage — the zebra crossing, the scooter, the long shadows all play their part.

For me, this is one of my most cinematic images. It doesn’t tell a complete story, but it evokes one: where has she come from, where is she going? That question remains open, and that is precisely the intention.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
