About ‘Where the Water Awakens’ by Daan van Oort

In the quiet woods of Oosterbeek, photographer Daan van Oort reveals one of the most charming spots on the edge of the Veluwe: the historic cave house known as ‘De Oorsprong’. This remarkable 19th-century structure, built from rough natural stone and adorned with characteristic Gothic pointed arches, serves as an elegant outlet for the spring water that finds its way out here. A clear, silky stream of water flows down through the central arch. The literal source of the stream that gives this place its name.

The little grotto exudes history. The moss that has settled on the stones, the weathered texture of the masonry, the way the structure nestles seamlessly into the slope. The whole exudes a sober, timeless elegance.

In the foreground, the stream bed winds its way between wooden revetments, completely covered by a carpet of fallen leaves in warm autumnal hues. Moss-covered boulders and towering beech trunks frame the scene, whilst a gentle November mist shrouds the far reaches of the forest in a dreamy haze.

Van Oort succeeds in blending nature, architecture and the sense of the season into a single poetic image. An invitation to pause and reflect.

Daan van Oort (1973) studied dental technics in Nieuwegein (the Netherlands) and finished school in 2000 winning the “van Hamond” award being the best of his year.

After 20 years of experience in dental techniques, giving education to technicians in The Netherlands, Belgium and Thailand and as general manager of the oldest dental technician lab in the Netherlands he now focuses on several projects in the Dental world.

In 2007 he finished his study photography…

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
