Where the Wind Lives | Abstract landscape with birds

by MadameRuiz

Straddling the line between Mark Rothko and realism, *Where the Wind Lives* navigates the realms of tranquillity, atmosphere and imagination. This poetic, abstract landscape featuring birds is a dreamlike and multi-layered work of art in which freedom, nature and emotion converge. A flock of birds moves freely through the air above a mysterious, tranquil landscape, whilst warm colours and subtle collage elements create a deep, almost meditative atmosphere.

The colour scheme forms an important part of this modern painting. Deep burgundy, Bordeaux red, aubergine and dark brown are combined with soft shades such as old rose, powder pink, mauve, terracotta, rust brown and warm peach. Greyish nuances and dark earth tones lend the work a warm, harmonious atmosphere. The silhouettes of the birds, almost black in colour, stand out powerfully against the soft sky and enhance the sense of movement and freedom.

This abstract landscape featuring birds is built up from various layers of paint, transparent areas of colour and refined collage elements. The visible textures and weathered structures give the painting a lived-in, artistic quality. This creates an exciting balance between abstraction and recognition, between atmosphere and landscape, between emotion and form.

The birds symbolise freedom, longing and letting go. They seem to float weightlessly through the warm evening air, whilst the dark landscape beneath them slowly dissolves into shadow and reflection. This makes the work not only visually appealing, but also emotionally powerful.

‘Where the Wind Lives’ fits beautifully into a modern, Scandinavian, rustic or Japandi interior. The warm burgundy tones combine beautifully with wood, linen, beige, sandy colours and weathered pastels. This painting is an atmospheric centrepiece for the living room, bedroom or workspace and appeals to lovers of abstract art, birds, landscapes, collage art and freedom of expression in art.
