About ‘A Mediterranean Summer’ by Evelien van Rijn

This image is originally a photo of wall texture. Using various digital editing techniques, this photograph has been used to create an abstract yet accessible image that is perfect for inclusion in a warm and stylish interior.

Identity is a theme that often recurs in my work as a photographer. However, this image revolves around its counterpart: anonymity. Because of my love for interiors, I know how important (and fun!) it is to reflect your own identity in your living style. The technique gives the image a kind of noise-like distortion, allowing sharp lines and details to blend in. This puts the focus on the mood, colour and style of the work rather than a specific something or someone.

By choosing abstract subjects that are recognisable in colour and feeling, this work evokes a different emotion and memory in each person. So it is an image with room for unique interpretation. I searched for the balance between anonymity and recognition. With the aim that the viewer himself can give meaning to the work, to be able to frame a certain atmosphere, as it were, and thus connect their own identity to the work.

For me personally, this work gives the feeling of summer, light and warmth, hence the title ''A Mediterranean Summer''. In my opinion, it would therefore look great in a warm interior.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
