About ‘A gem in Delft Blue’ by KRAB

"Parel in Delfts Blauw" is a graphic-abstract interpretation of Johannes Vermeer’s *Girl with a Pearl Earring*, entirely steeped in the blue hues of Delftware. From deep navy blue to light porcelain ice blue, the colours that Delft has been sharing with the world for centuries now form the face of its most famous model.

The girl’s silhouette is constructed from the letters of DELFT, woven into her turban, her neck, her gaze.

As in the previous typographic work, city and woman are inextricably linked, but here colour adds a new layer. She is not just from Delft. She is made of the same material as the pottery: patient, refined, blue.

The pearl is small but striking, a point of light in an otherwise deep and layered image. She looks at you, as she always has, but now with the colour of the city in her skin.

Suitable for modern living rooms, design hotels, cultural institutions and interiors with an appreciation for Dutch art history and craftsmanship. Graphic, poetic wall art at the intersection of Vermeer, Delft pottery and contemporary graphic design, rooted in Delft, South Holland. At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
