About the artwork

*** Attention: Real photography - no AI! ***

The Strada delle Orecchiette (officially Strada Arco Basso) in Bari - the famous pasta street in Apulia with handmade eyelet pasta. In this street there are several Italian women kneading pasta dough and moulding pasta by hand. Many tourists take the opportunity to watch the orecchiette being made. Bari is famous for these little ears.

Bari is a harbour city on the Adriatic Sea and the capital of the southern Italian region of Apulia. The old town of Bari Vecchia with its maze of alleyways lies on a spit of land between two harbours. In the middle of the narrow streets stands the 11th century Basilica of San Nicola, an important pilgrimage site where the remains of St Nicholas are kept.

Apulia is a southern Italian region that forms the heel of the Italian boot and is known for its hill towns with whitewashed houses, centuries-old farmland and hundreds of kilometres of Mediterranean coastline. The capital Bari is a lively harbour and university city. Lecce is known as the "Florence of the South" due to its baroque architecture. Alberobello and the Valle d'Itria are characterised by the "Trulli" - stone huts with eye-catching conical roofs.
