About ‘Autumn mist in the vineyard’ by Marcel Hechler

On that October morning, I was out early, long before the sun had fully reached the hillside. Fog still lay over the vines of the Lienzinger vineyard — a soft, pale layer that swallowed up the upper part of the hill and was only reluctantly giving way to the daylight.

What immediately struck me was the juxtaposition: in the foreground, the dew-kissed, lush meadow; behind it, the vines in their full autumnal splendour of orange, rust and warm brown. In between stand the old vineyard cottages, each slightly different — one painted green, one made of reddish sandstone, and further up, others scattered amongst the rows of vines. The birch tree on the left still bears its last golden leaves, whilst on the right a shrub is still blooming yellow into the morning.

It is this quiet hour when the landscape almost holds its breath. The warm light just grazing the sandstone cottage and the meadow, set against the cool mist and the clear sky above — for me, it is this contrast that makes the picture so captivating.
For me, this photo conveys a sense of tranquillity and the value of the early hours. It’s perfect for any space where you want to unwind — above the sofa in the living room, in the bedroom, or in a country-style room, where it adds a warm, nature-inspired touch.
