Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.
The artwork appears at its true size, so you cannot scale it in AR. Want a different size? Close AR and pick the size on the product page.

About ‘Beach Day’ by Tim Hupkes

‘Beach Day’ captures that feeling of a summer’s day when there’s really nothing you have to do. An endless blue sky, warmth, sand and a horizon stretching into the distance. No hustle and bustle, no story you have to follow, just colour and space.

The painting is composed of large areas of colour. Different shades of bright blue blend subtly into one another, whilst warm shades of sand and gold fill the lower part of the work. Right on the horizon is a thin, dark line of purple and red, which separates the two colour worlds and gives the image depth.

Like many of my abstract paintings, ‘Beach Day’ emerged intuitively. I work from colour and composition and let the direction the work takes unfold as I paint. Here, that ultimately became the feeling of the beach and summer, without literally depicting a beach.

Beach Day brings a lot of colour into a room, yet remains serene thanks to its simple composition. For me, it has an optimistic feel to it: warmth, freedom, a distant horizon and all the time in the world.

The original work is hand-painted on canvas.
