Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.
The artwork appears at its true size, so you cannot scale it in AR. Want a different size? Close AR and pick the size on the product page.
Still nothing? Open this page in Chrome or Safari. AR does not work in the browser of apps such as Instagram or Facebook.

About ‘Daybreak’ by Tim Hupkes

Daybreak is inspired by that brief moment when night gives way to day. The horizon begins to lighten, whilst the deep blue above lingers for a moment longer. Below the horizon, soft shades of sand, gold, pink and earth tones blend into one another.

In this work, I particularly wanted to capture that sense of space and a new beginning. Little is happening, and yet precisely because of that, a great deal is happening: colour is the subject here. The transition from cool blue to warm tones lends the painting both tranquillity and energy.

My abstract work emerges intuitively. I build up colours layer by layer and, whilst painting, allow the image to develop in whatever direction it takes. In *Daybreak*, this resulted in an almost landscape-like composition, without it being a literal depiction of any particular place. It could be a horizon over the sea, an endless landscape or simply colour and light.

Thanks to its simple composition and bright colours, ‘Daybreak’ brings plenty of colour to an interior without feeling overwhelming. It is a tranquil piece, but certainly not an unremarkable one.

The original work is hand-painted on canvas.
