The Lesser Violetear (Colibri cyanotus) is a bird in the family of Trochilidae (Hummingbirds).
The male is 10 cm long and weighs 5 - 6 grams. He is bright green, glistening and has blue tones on the throat and breast. He has a violet patch around his eye. Its tail has a black band at the tip. Its bill and legs are black.
Its habitat is open mountain terrain in the Andes and mountain ranges of Central America with trees and shrubs at 1200 to 3000 m above sea level.
