About ‘Black on white’ by Thea

Black On White is a study in contrast and repetition. A network of lines forms an abstract pattern that balances between order and confusion. The composition seems simple - black on white, lines on plane - but each part just deviates from the previous one. What begins as a pattern grows into a visual exploration.

The lines intertwine, cross, interrupt and double. Sometimes they suggest a path, sometimes a blockage. The eye seeks an entrance, a direction, but finds something else each time. The depth created is optical, not physical - an illusion of layers, movement and space within a flat surface.

The white background is essential. Not just void, but active part of the image. It allows each line to speak individually, emphasises their sharp corners and gentle curves. Black and white are not opposites here, but dance partners: one exists by the grace of the other.

There is no central theme, no recognisable form. And yet meaning emerges. Not by what is depicted, but by what is suggested. Rhythm. Structure. Possibility. The work invites one to wander - not to arrive, but to keep looking.

Black On White transcends its application. As a print on textiles, wallpaper, packaging material or paper, it retains its abstract power. It adapts without losing itself. It remains a play of direction and space, of capture and release.

An image without a centre, but full of movement. No story - and yet it continues to speak.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
