About "Cheerfully Coloured Illustration of a Salad"

About the artwork

A plate from above shows a mixed salad with tomato, cucumber, red onion, feta and black olives. It is an illusion, however, because everything you see is made of paper. This allowed me to make the colours extra cheerful.

The inspiration for this work is a memory from my childhood. I used to play with plastic vegetables back then. They were miniatures of peppers, tomatoes and other vegetables. I played that I was a vegetable farmer with my own little shop. Thus, through play, I was prepared to eat healthy!

I liked the challenge of seeing if I could make food from my favourite medium, paper, as an adult. I wanted to assemble the cut-out parts on a plate into a salad that would look edible and at the same time evoke a sense of cheerfulness.

I also made a video of the process, to show people how everything is built layer by layer. In fact, all the parts were cut out one by one, composed of different pieces of paper and provided with drawing-like details.

I think it would be very nice to print this work in a large format and hang it above the sofa, for example. In fact, greetings are very beautiful and an extra-large format has an alienating effect, but also additionally points us to their abstract and colourful beauty.

The work certainly provides the necessary pop of colour in any interior!

My work distinguishes itself by strong colours and clear shapes. I work with ecoline, ink and pencil, but I also like to cut and paste.
I get my inspiration from nature and like to daydream. Animals and people sometimes seem to melt together in these reveries.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
