This autumn leaf with its beautiful deep warm tones was shining so beautifully on a book of sayings by Shantideva that I had to capture it. Because of the weak light, I could only get the leaf in focus, but very vaguely you can still read something of the text, making the photo reflect the transparency and transience of existence.
Shantideva was a well-known Buddhist monk from India who lived in the 8th century AD and wrote the Bodhicharyavatara, now the most widely taught text in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.
Through my work for Happinez magazine, I often visit and get to attend beautiful locations where retreats are held. In this way I meet special people and cultures and learn a lot about personal development. Nature retreats especially touch me because of the infinite wisdom, energy, power and meaningful messages nature has for us. You only have to stop, tune in, listen and feel. Everything is already there!
