About ‘Coral devil’ by DesignedByJoost

This photo was taken during a dive in the clear waters of Aruba, a place that has been my home base for many years and where I have had the opportunity to capture countless special moments underwater. This photo shows a lionfish - or lionfish - in all its glory, photographed with a snoot. This technique ensures that only the subject is highlighted, while the rest of the image remains completely black. Although it looks like this photo was taken at night, it was actually taken in the middle of the day. The controlled light creates a dramatic effect and beautifully brings out the mysterious nature of this predatory fish.

What makes this photo so special to me is the combination of precision, tranquillity and contrast. The sharp fins and pattern on the lionfish's skin stand out beautifully against the pitch-black background. As if the fish is floating in an endless void. The shadows on the seabed add an extra layer of depth to the image.

The inspiration for this photo comes from my fascination with light use in underwater photography. The snoot lets me play with atmosphere and focus, and helps me to really tell the subject's story. In this case: the silent hunter, elegant and dangerous at the same time.

This work radiates tranquillity, but also has something sinister about it. It fits beautifully in a modern interior with a passion for nature, diving, adventure or photography. For me, this work is a reminder of the magic you can only find under the surface of the water - hidden in full daylight.

Soon I bought a gopro to capture this world. But when I moved to Australia a few years later, I was able to buy a professional underwater camera and this was the start of a great hobby. I invested in more lenses to capture big animals, from whales to the smallest creatures like nudibranchs. Sins I left my hometown…

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
