Desenzano del Garda is an Italian municipality in the province of Brescia in the region of Lombardy. It is the largest town on Lake Garda with more than 29,000 inhabitants.
The old port Porto Vecchio: Desenzano's old port is separated from the new port by a bridge and is surrounded by beautiful palazzi and promenade cafes.
There are countless sights in Desenzano that make a side trip here well worthwhile. These include the main church of Santa Maria Maddalena, the harbor with its pier and the Villa Romana. The latter is the residence of the once most important carpenter of the city, Emanuele Zamboni. Nowadays, however, only the remains of the villa's former location can be found.
