The picture shows a close-up of several transparent ice cubes that have been highlighted by coloured light. The cubes have a clear geometric shape and reflect a spectrum of blue, green, red and violet. The photo was taken in the studio under controlled lighting conditions, whereby I worked specifically with LED colour spotlights to make the refraction and reflection in the ice visible.
My inspiration for this motif was the idea of transforming an everyday, ephemeral material like ice into an abstract, almost crystalline art object. The combination of cold and colour creates an atmosphere that is both technical and sensual - an interplay between clarity and vibrancy.
With this painting, I want to show the beauty of structures that are otherwise barely perceived. It is about the interplay of light, form and transparency. The message is subtle: there is also aesthetics in the fleeting.
In interior design, this work can serve as a modern accent - especially in minimalist or urban spaces. It brings colour, depth and a certain coolness to the ambience without being obtrusive. Ideal for bars, kitchens or creative work environments.
