About the artwork

*** Attention: Real photography - no AI! ***

The Frauenkirche in Dresden is a baroque Evangelical-Lutheran church and the defining monumental building of Dresden's Neumarkt. It is considered a magnificent example of Protestant sacred architecture, has one of the largest stone church domes north of the Alps and is one of the largest sandstone buildings in the world. The 91 metre high dome was built between 1726 and 1743 to a design by George Bähr. After its destruction in 1945, the Frauenkirche remained a ruin until it was rebuilt between 1993 and 2005.

Dresden is the capital of the Free State of Saxony and the second largest city in Saxony after Leipzig and the twelfth largest city in Germany.

The Frauenkirche, Semperoper and Zwinger are probably the most famous sights in the metropolis on the Elbe.

The name Elbflorenz (Florence on the Elbe) became an epithet for the city of Dresden at the beginning of the 19th century. The title was originally intended to honour Dresden's art collections and its architecture, but today it is also used in connection with other similarities and points of contact between the Saxon and Tuscan capitals.
