Dresden on the river Elbe, in Saxony, Germany. The Elbe 'divides'Dresden into der Altstadt and Neustadt via the August Bridge. About 10 metres above the Elbe are the Brühlsche Terrasse. Also called the balcony of Europe. Now apparently there are many balconies of Europe; including in Luxembourg, in Spain (Nerja) and the Maasvlakte near Rotterdam. That said, this is a beautiful place in Dresden. The buildings are magnificent. Festivals or other celebrations are regularly organised on the banks of the Elbe.
Much of Dresden was rebuilt in its original state after heavy bombing in World War II.
