Sometimes it is the simplicity that sticks the most. We stood together, my daughter and I, for a moment at the beach entrance at Petten. It was one of those moments you don't want to miss: beach grass bending gently in the wind, a strip of beach, behind it the sea and seagulls in the sky. All in the light of a day that was bright and soft at the same time.
What touched me was the tranquillity. No crowds, no excess. Just the lines of the grass, the play of limited colours, light and sky. I chose to keep the image light - high key, as it is called - because it felt exactly like that. As if the wind kept not only the grass, but also your thoughts airy and clear.
For me, this is a reminder of a beautiful day, but also an image that brings peace - wherever you hang it. A visual tranquillity, for those who long for simplicity and softness in their homes.
Sometimes less really is more. You see that, and you feel that.
