This is a Jay. I found this Jay in the garden on a peanut net.
The Jay can be recognised by a black beard stripe, black-white feathers and a black street, a white undertail and blue-white cover feathers. His is otherwise predominantly pink. It is a forest bird, but is also more common in gardens and parks these days. It is a shy little bird.
This Jay also always looked up at any suspicious occurrence while feeding. At one point, he even looked up at the window behind which I was standing to take this picture. He was really looking at the house. If you look at his little eye, you can see in miniature the reflection of our house in his eye. With a lot of distortion and curvature, though. From this I deduce that a Jay's eye is very small and round, and that a Jay's brain has to correct this distortion, otherwise it won't do much flying.
