This summery and colourful, cheerful and at the same time less cheerful artwork is a collage of images, details from paintings by old masters.
It is a double portrait of a woman together with the "grim reaper", both taken from a painting from the 18th century.
The foreground and background are taken from various paintings by French painter Henri Julien Félix Rousseau (1844-1910).
Life and death, day and night, gathered in this unique artwork, reminiscent of the Mexican Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos).
