It captures the feeling of being alone yet experiencing a great deal of restlessness.
I have ADHD myself, and this reflects the feeling of wanting to be alone but actually also really wanting to connect with people.
The image depicts a figure that immediately grabs the viewer’s attention through the combination of expressive lines, contrasting colours and a palpable emotional intensity. At the centre is a person, depicted head-on, with their arms crossed tightly across their chest. This posture suggests protection, tension or an attempt to hold themselves together. The body is rendered in cool tones such as blue and purple, giving the figure a vulnerable, reserved appearance. The sketchy lines and overlapping contours reinforce that feeling: it seems as though the person is not fully ‘fixed’, but rather in motion or experiencing inner turmoil.
Unfolding around the figure is a background that stands in stark contrast to the cool colours of the body. Warm, turbulent hues such as red, orange and dark accents form a chaotic pattern of scratches, spirals and dynamic stripes. This background seems to swirl around the person like a kind of energetic storm, as if the surroundings are exerting emotional pressure or depicting an inner conflict. The warm colours suggest intensity, tension or overwhelming emotions, whilst the figure itself appears closed off and introverted.
The composition as a whole creates a powerful visual tension: the calm, restrained demeanour of the figure contrasts with the explosive, chaotic energy of the background. This creates an image that radiates both vulnerability and strength, inviting interpretation regarding inner struggle, self-protection or emotional overload.
